"Logansteno: Bought a VW?" (logansteno)

Because apparently I'm eligible for an upgrade in December. And because it's 2:40 and I've got nothing better to do honestly.
I'm pretty sold on the LG G3.
I have an Optimus G right now that I really like. Since, I think, the G3 is the next, next version of my phone, it should be even better. And reading some reviews, it is.
The only thing I'm not a fan of is the lack of physical buttons on the bottom of the phone, but rather they're on the screen itself. Little thing though.
And since when have phone screens gotten so big? This screen is almost a full inch bigger than my Optimus' screen, and I already have issues touching the upper left corner on it!

The new Nexus is coming out soon, may want to hold of....it is being built by Motorola though...so yeah.

TBH, the most comfortable phones fit in the 4.5-4.7 inch range. I really don't get why all the flagship models have to be 5.2 or more. It's just getting stupider every year...
I'm also looking for a new phone soon, but I have a feeling that I might like the Google/Moto combo for the next Nexus. I hope that it doesn't come with a large screen though, otherwise I'll just stick to my N5.

Yeah, my Optimus is 4.7 and it just about perfect size-wise.
Almost every friend I've had who had a Motorola smart phone has hated it or it's broke on them. Thus I'll be avoiding it like it's the plague

I was interested in the G3. Problem is that LG and US Cellular don't get along so well anymore - it probably wasn't going to be on their network until after January.
I'm going with the Note 4. 1440p screen like the G3, but it has a stylus and an almost 6" screen. I'm an on-the-road salesman, and all of my stuff works off a 10" Verizon tablet (Motorola Zoom). If the tablet can't get cell signal, I can use the Note as a hotspot for it. If the tablet craps out on me, I can use the Note to do my work. Keeps me productive, keeps me making money, probably can write off half my cell bill on my taxes.
Also, I can sell my 7" HP tablet because I won't need it anymore.

Sprint and LG seem to get along pretty well. We even get an "exclusive" gold color (who the hell buys a gold phone!?)
I really wish the screen on the G3 was smaller. There's a version called the G3 Vigor that has a 5" screen, but it also has a worse camera and not as much RAM among other things.

My business phone is a G3. It works fine, but I wouldn't buy it again. It's hard to use with one hand because it's so big. It's also hard to hold because it's slippery. You do get used to having the button on the back though.
The worst part about this phone is the camera. It is really really bad. Low light photos suck and the delay is way to long between pressing the button and actually taking the photo. I don't care how many mega pixels it has, the camera on this phone is really really bad and makes me wish I'd gotten something else.

Hopefully it's easier to use with my big hands, I doubt it since I already have issues with a phone with a screen an inch smaller. My Optimus is super slippery. So much so I had to buy an Otterbox just so I had something that wouldn't slide out of my hand on accident.
Sounds about right. The Camera on my Optimus is 13 MP, but my girlfriend's iPhone take infinitely better pictures with its 8 MP camera. The delay in mine varies it seems like. And anything other than sunlight is just grainy and meh.
Maybe I take a look at the HTC One again..

Yeah yeah, you wankers with your GSM network and your SIM card phones getting all the good shit. US Cellular doesn't even use SIM cards - we're strictly a CDMA network.
Have you thought about the Galaxy S 5 then? 5.1" screen, 1080p Super AMOLED screen, 2 gigs of RAM, 16 megapixel camera, water resistant (with dust caps in) to 3 feet for 30 minutes. It came out in February 2014.
Of course, since you're GSM/SIM you have the choices of Copper Gold, black, and white. On CDMA, we only get it in black.
LG G3 on the left, Galaxy S5 on the right.

What options have you got? Although to be honest, I think the G3 is the best option too. My friend's had a G2 for over a year now and it's still running perfectly. I would consider getting one myself, if it weren't for the fact that I've been using iPhones for the past two years. Unlike certain Samsungs...
At any rate, I wouldn't recommend any Samsung of any sort - my local provider tells me that within two years, Samsungs deteriorate the quickest and come back for repairs or upgrades the soonest. As a comparison, another one of my friends got an S4 around the same time as my other friend with the G2. The difference now is remarkable.
And yes, I hate big phones too. They're too "in-your-face" and they won't fit in my pockets. I thought mobile phones were supposed to be mobile. The bigger they get, the less likely that seems...

Sprint actually doesn't use SIM cards, which has always bugged me.
I've played around with the S5 at Best Buy a few times. It's high up on the list for sure.

I have a G2. It's awesome. The buttons on the screen are easy to get used to and the screen size is perfect with the small bezel.

Right now I'm torn between the LG G3, HTC One M8, and Galaxy S5. Anything Sprint carries (which is a lot) is an option when it's time to upgrade though. I've thought about an iPhone 6, but I really like Android.
I'm a big fan of LG because my Optimus is two years old and still runs like I just took it out of the box. Unlike my dad's S3 that needs a new battery already.

I love my S5. I upgraded from the HTC One M7, which had the perfect screen size. I like the S5's screen a lot, however, because the pixel density is amazing. Plus the new TouchWiz (Samsung' custom Android skin) is actually not that bad.

If I was getting a phone for personal use only and no work applications, I'd already have the S5. It's just a little too small for trying to do work stuff.
Huh, I had thought Sprint was using SIM cards now too. I wonder why this kind of stuff can't just be standardized for the world. Like, "Okay, all of the cell phone companies will use SIM cards and run on GSM." Think of how much easier that would be. The companies would have to manufacture just one phone instead of 3 or more, less electronics because no CDMA antenna or the stuff to run it, easier to switch carriers... Shame it probably won't happen within a decade.

I think I'd still go with the G3. My friend's HTC One is good from an OS perspective, but she says that the camera isn't very good compared the iPotato 5S that was stolen from her. Personally, I'd stick with the G3. It's also the only one there (I think) that has a non-metal rear casing, which is nice.

I was gonna get a G3 but I managed to get my hands on a OnePlus One and owning a Unicorn is appealing to me.

Mmmm, I had an old early android Motorola, and although had a love hate relationship with it, the recent turnaround makes it look rather appealing. Google's flipped moto pretty well, and now they're going to make a profit by selling it to Lenovo (who we know have done pretty well with IBM's ThinkPads).

That's one of the things I like most about my iPhone 5 - it's really about as big as I want to put in my front pocket. I carried a Galaxy S4 for a few weeks and although the screen is nice, I didn't like the way it fit in my pocket, and that's where my phone spends most of it's time during the day. The new screens are nice, but I'm really not a fan of the overall size FOR A PHONE. If I wanted a small tablet to carry around, I'd get one of those, but I can't have it with me at all times.

I've got an m8, g3, and note2. G3 is my favorite, but they're all good.
The buttons on the back actually work great. It takes about a week to get used to them, but after that you'll find they're very intuitive. Because they're on the back they free up bezel room. Due to that it's actually very similar in size to the m8 even though it has a larger screen. Speaking of screen, its the best I've experienced on a device. The camera is superior to the m8 in my use because it's faster. Picture quality is about the same with maybe a little edge to the G3.
M8 has the best mobile sound full stop. Not just with the front speakers (which are amazing), but also the processing/driving makes it better on everything from shifty ear buds to decent speakers. It also feels more premium, though that comes at a cost of not being able to replace the battery. Don't know if it was just mine, but the main antenna(3g and 4g) broke 3 times in the first three months which was extremely obnoxious and each time turned it into an expensive WiFi tablet. HTC warranty service was slow too.
The note 2 is old now, but man is it tough. It's been beaten and abused has huge gouged all over it and the rear cover won't stay on without a case. Still, screen never broke and it still works 100%, I wouldn't hesitate to pick up another Samsung, just think they're a half step behind right now.

I came here to say something about size. I thought 4.3 was great, my current phone is 4.7, and it's too big.
I went to the carrier's site to see what they currently had in stock the other day and saw nothing smaller than 4.7. WTF? All of the decent devices were 5+
It's almost like they expect us to start putting on the dad uniform.

What ever you do, don't get the HTC One M8. I'm 6 months in and about to steal an upgrade to go back to a Galaxy.

Haha, I have big hands so I'm best at 4.7" and slightly uncomfortable at 5". I'm surprised at how Apple didn't keep a smaller version of the iPhone 6. If the had a small flagship model, I would've considered jumping ship, but that just ain't happening.
As strange as it may sound, I actually know someone who uses the phone holder for their belts - and he's a young dude too.

Don't listen to other stupid comments about the G3. I'm using one right now. Amazing camera if you're smart enough to understand settings menus. I don't think it's too big for one hand either. It has a screen good enough for watching movies which I have done before. The phone starts feeling normal size after a couple months of using it. As for the slippery problem. How is that even a problem? I got a slim case from Amazon for mine when it was new and it grips better than a piece of rubber in my hand. Here's a sample photo:
